Media literacy skills are important for information consumers to help them better analyse the messages stemming from mediated communications. Media Matters for Democracy has held training sessions with information consumers, including educators, to teach them about source criticism and distinguishing between the types of misinformation online. The sessions aimed to equip citizens with the skills and knowledge to critically evaluate information and identify misleading or false content in various forms of media. Additionally, the organisation has offered online courses for citizen journalism which
complements these training sessions and provides individuals with the tools to report on issues of public interest in an accurate and responsible manner. By promoting media literacy and responsible reporting, Media Matters for Democracy aims to foster a more informed and engaged society.
